Isipathana College which is only 50 years old has an impressive record of notable achievements in rugby since the game was introduced to the school by Maurice de Abrew, Vice President of Havelocks Sports Club.
From 1960 to 1963 Isipathana played friendly games against under-17 teams of all rugby playing schools and during this period there were a host of personalities like Eric de Silva, Michael Loos, Franklin Jacob and Edward Bartholomuez who rallied round to uplift rugger at Isipathana.

A project has been started in the school to popularize chess among all the students in the school. Each class in the school is provided with a chess board, and the students practice this game whenever a subject teacher is absent in the class. Encouraging the game of chess among the students is aimed at helping them to increase their thinking ability in the day to day problems they are faced with. |
